This book is essential if you plan to do serious research on Cuba. It is essentially a compilation of the major documents of great importance written in or on Cuba. It starts with colonial writings (passages from Spanish colonizers) and works its way through time up to and through the Cuban revolution. It contains everything from speeches to journal entries and songs. It is incredibly comprehensive and the summaries at the beginning of each passage are instrumental in guiding the researcher through so much material quickly.

This is not a normal history but if you are willing to read an anthology rather than a normal guide, this will give you an excellent description of Cuban life and history. I have read the Peru reader as well and this whole series is excellent. The book is very long and inevitably some things were left out but overall I found this to be extremely thorough. I was disappointed that some of the poems did not have side by side Spanish and English translations but that is a minor quibble. This book includes plenty of Cuban and non-Cuban sources.

This was a great overview of the history, culture and politics of Cuba. A huge volume, it contains a handful of pages from a wide variety of articles and sources on each topic -- allowing readers to choose what they want to focus on and what they can pass by. It was a great companion on a recent trip to Cuba and made the trip much more interesting as I felt grounded a bit in the history, without having to read dozens of books.

I bought this for 10 year old granddaughter, loved this so much I am buying one for myself. The format and color theme is so positive and uplifting.You will not be disappointed !! Perfect for both young girlz and a few old ones too.

I am appalled that the language has been changed from "Adam laid with Eve" to Adam and Eve made love. This bible is for young girls and I think this is completely inappropriate wording. The original NIV bible did not say made love.

I absolutely love this Bible for my teen daughter. I really want to buy one for myself.

This is a beautiful Bible, but it's very advanced for my 10 year old daughter. I will hold onto it for when she is older and can follow it better.This was reccommended to me by our youth pastor but when I read it with my daughter, she gets upset that she can't follow it.In other words, this Bible has not been made easier for children to understand.As I said, I'm sure she will love it in future years.She does love the Faithgirlz Journal very much so she uses that now and takes it to church every Sunday.

We had seen the Faith Girlz Bible at a Christian book store. The price here was much better. I honestly have to say I may not have bought it if I hadn't already been able to flip thru it and see for myself how great it really is. Not only does it have all the Bible in it, but there are little tidbits of knowledge throughout to get young girls thinking about how their lives relate to the ladies in the Bible. Thankful we picked this up for an Easter gift for our 9yr old. You won't regret buying it.

My granddaughter is 12 and this is perfect for her. Some of the other teen bibles discussed things she wasn’t experiencing yet. I really liked this because it wasn’t too young but it wasn’t too old for her age group either

I bought 2 of these Bibles for my granddaughters. They are 8 and 11 and they were thrilled to each have their own Bible. Not only is it the entire NIV Bible, but it has special sections of stories that will relate to girls this age. A wonderful way to bring God into their lives!

Really nice. The font is a purple and dark hot pink. Hard for my eyes but my girl loves it. It has added commentary for personal introspection that is separated in boxes so it clearly not part of the Bible. My daughter was so excited to read it and bring it into church. I only wish the Bible were not hardcover. I would pay much more for leather. I am concerned my daughter will eventually rip a cover off. But, I knew before I bought so I am not removing stars. Would buy again.
