As someone who has gone through an ERP system implementation, I can say that I wish I had read this book before I started. It is packed full of practical advice and rings true throughout. If you are about to embark on a project or simply need some reminders, I highly recommend reading this book. You will surely find many things you can put into place to make the process go more smoothly.

A must read for ANYONE implementing ERP or ANY large software installation. Steve covers "everything including the kitchen sink" from initial vendor engagement to "how consultants think".Well organized and "to the point" Steve departs from academic to real world scenarios quickly and resolutely to ensure the reader clearly understands what's being said.

As a practioner and implementer of ERP systems for 20-plus years I must say this book is breath of fresh air in a usually stuffy topic area.The author preaches a product agnostic way to think about the selection and implementation process of ERP systems. Very insightful. There is also a lot of solid project management knowledge covered along the way.I would make this required reading for anyone contemplating an ERP system in their future.

Good and practical read with a heavy focus on the systems side. Infrastructure and related application stuff is barely touched upon.It contains a number of good lists that are a good start point to become checklists without being rigid.

I found this book to be well-written and helpful. As someone new to ERP implementations, the author's detailed guidance and insight was motivating and gave me confidence to get started. This book is an excellent read and well worth the price.

I wish this book is published 15 years earlier when company I worked for decided to implement SAP ERP. The book has mentioned at least 50% of the troubles I met. If the steering and core team of the project had learned most mindset from this book, implementation should be 100% more successful and 30% reduction of cost. As a retired CIO & 3rd party independent ERP project manager, I always recommend my clients read this book before survey stage of ERP Project.

It gives very critical clues.I learned a lot of critical issues from this book. Especially the section about prototyping helped me a lot during the implementation. There are very useful information about ERP selection criteria. Every consultants and project managers should read this book. It gave me excellent insights about ERP project management.

I got my hands on a new book this past week, Game Strategies and Tactics for Basketball from my friend Kevin Sivils. I first met Kevin as an assistant on Dale Brown's staff and immediately recognized a passion on his part to TEACH -- which is why I am not surprised that his book is an excellent one. The book itself is different but is exactly one that so many coaches need. If you are looking for some plays, quick-hitters and detailed X & O's, this isn't the book. But if you are looking for help to better teach the X & O's and, most importantly, apply them in game situations than this is a must read. There are thousands of books and videos on plays but this is unique look at STRATEGY including the following sections:

The Right Approach Goes A Long Way It speaks to theories Kevin learned from Coach Wooden and Don Meyer as well as understanding what you can control from the bench and what you cannot -- including your relationship with officials.

The Logic Behind It Delves into both strategic thinking and tactical thinking

Management Issues Again, this is game coaching that we often don't give enough thought to such as preparing to play at home and on the road, bench decorum and bench organization.

Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail This is a great chapter on planning and practicing special situations

Controlling What the Coach Can Control Detailed look at pre-game warm-up, substitutions, timeouts, and jump balls
